The World in a Shell is a truly mobile platform in the wider sense of the meaning and used as a vehicle for intercultural exchange and intellectual cross-pollination, guided by social and ethical concerns. It includes the latest technology that can be used without degrading either the environment nor the values and life style of the people it visits. The project has much overlapping content between art, science and education, the environment/green living and humanitarian issues, specifically on disaster management and rural problems. As a space-ship look-a-like artwork, The World in a Shell explores in how far technology can help to adopt an autarkic and nomadic life-style, if this is at all desirable for the 21-century world citizens.
